Yes that was sad about Eight Belles.   Very tragic.

I was at OBS (Ocala Breeders Sales)  For the race.  The numbers at first indicated that 18 won and then flipped to 20 as the winner.  I bet $2 and won $6.80.  I'm happy!  Then I get a call from my sister who lives in the Hudson Valley NY and she told me about Eight Belles.  I was stunned, they didn't show the accident there.  So incredibly sad!  It reminded me of Ruffian (The Kentuckian)

I am looking forward to a triple crown winner this year too.  He has it in him!  He won by 5 lengths, not quite Secretariat but certainly a significant lead.  This should be a lot of fun.

Debbie,  I was just thinking about the Kentucky Derby and wondering who won?  I was getting ready to click over to sport center when I saw your post.  Thanks for saving me some time searching for the winner.

Debbie-  A great race for Big Brown, if he wins the Preakness, it'll be fun here at Belmont.  My heart goes out for Eight Belles and her owners!

Debbie, I was so happy for Big Brown and so sad for the Eight Belles.  Bless her heart, she ran her heart out.  I don't know anything about horse racing and wonder why the horses have been having such a hard time the last few years? 

How in the world can 3 minutes be worth the life of one of these magnificent creatures.  Weren't we mourning Barbaro's accident this time last year?  I guess I just don't get it....

Hi Debbie- It was and is very sad about Eight Bells.  My grand-daughter had a "Kentucky-Derby" race at her pre- school in Bowling Green and I never laughed so had in my life.  That is the only Kentucky Derby I have ever been to!
