Let me start out by saying I've done a lot of really fun and successful ventures over the years to build relationships and business. From Reverse Christmas Cookie Exchanges, Easter Baskets, Pumpkin & Scarecrows .....you name I've probably done it!
The best venture by far were our Monthly Business Mixers that we hosted at our home for about 40 to 50 people for about 8+ years. All of the attendees had some kind of business or professional service to offer and we did a lot of business with each other, and still do to this day. But these were not your ordinary Business Mixers - Oh No! We went full out on a theme for each event whether it be Christmas, Valentines, St Paddy's Day, Easter,Hawaiian Flip Flop, French/ Art Walk (the favorite mixer by a long shot), Halloween and many other themes. As you'll see by the pictures we had a blast with getting creative with each theme! Our caterer prepared a delicious menu to fit each theme perfectly - oh she was such an incredible chef! We also chose wines and other beverages to go along with each theme. And for some holidays the attendees wore the appropriate holiday clothing. Like I said this was a really REALLY Fun Group and they were up for just about any crazy idea!
We had a leadership board of 8 members that helped us in the preparation, decorating, sign-ins, follow ups, newsletter, emails - all the stuff one needs to do to manage a big group. So the heavy work wasn't left to just Gary and myself - thankfully!
Each event was low key and not a 'heavy' networking scene but more about how we help each other out. Givers Gain was our motto. The idea was to really get to know each other well and having a low key atmostphere did the trick. Did we talk business? Yes and No. Was the group widly successful? YES! YES! YES!
