"Catch the Wave" was this year's theme for the event attended about about 2,000 REALTORS. We normally have about 150-175 vendors with a wide array of products and services available to those in the real estate profession. 2008 participants also included members from the Tri-Counties Association and the Inland Valley Assoc. of REALTORS. I was told the attendance this year was actually about the same numbers we've had the past couple
of years, not bad as a result of a somewhat declining membership.
While I enjoyed the whole event I'd have to say I'm not so sure I saw anything really new this time. However for me, the educational offerings are always worth while.
Real estate trainer/coach Tom Ferry began the day with the opening session. Later our main session at lunch included political personalities Bill Press of CNN'S Crossfire (among other things) and Larry Elder, a SoCal Radio Personality featured in a Crossfire type presentation moderated Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle. It was a spirited and humorous session enjoyed by everyone.
During the day I found a few fellow Active Rainers in attendance. And of course I had my camera for these photo opportunities.
A few of us took a stint working in a couple of booths on the trade show floor. Active Rainer Marlene Bridges is President-Elect of the SoCal CRS Chapter. She put in double duty working the Chapter's booth most of the day.
As a SoCal CRS, I did a short stint myself at our booth and also worked our associatio
n's Professional Standards Booth. It was our job to help educate our members of the pro-standards process including our newer Mediation services available to REALTORS and their clients.

Here are some of my notes from Tom Ferry's presentation:
Your income is an average of the five people you spend the most of your time with.
Success and failure starts between your ears.
Stop looking for motivation, it's short-lived. Be inspired, not motivated.
A mistake you want to avoid is lack of exposure.
Perception is projected. How I feel on the inside radiates to those on the outside.
A team always out performs an individual. Get the right people doing the right things together.
What is the highest and most effective use of your time.
54% of all homes listed this year will expire.
Consumers want experience, they want to be wowed, and they want to be moved by you.
Seems to me that many of Tom's ideas and thoughts are applicable to many aspects of life.
