Ruby Goes Rolling Down the Road

By
Real Estate Agent with Aspen Lane Real Estate Colorful Colorado CRE# 40005863

A few days ago, I was outside and noticed a neighbor had his dog out for a walk (or should I say wheel).  His dog has lost most of the feeling in one of her back legs and has had a terrible time walking.

Many folks have encouraged my neighbor to put Ruby down because she is just suffering, but she was all smiles when I saw her.  They decided to get Ruby some WHEELS!

This K9 Cart helps Ruby get on down the road with ease.

Most of the work is done with her front legs and chest.  Her back legs are supported by the cart.  If she loses control of her back leg along the way, it is A-OK.  The cart has her.

I was very impressed with Ruby's new set of wheels.
Now she can get up and roll!

Hi Belinda... I would have been hesitant to put a dog of my own down in circumstances like this, as well, so long as he/she was not in any pain. Sounds like Ruby still has a lot of living to do.

I think it is amazing that there are folks out there who will go out of their way to find solutions for animals who need their assistance.  Lucky Ruby.

Belinda, the "geniuses" that recommend what to do have no business talking... I have seen dog that their owner had them in four wheelies because their legs are tired but enjoy the fresh outdoors and still live well... sounds to me the person that makes recommendations would have a different attitude if he or she had lost a feeling in one leg or two and they would tell them sorry you will have to see Dr. Kevorkian....Endre

Hi Belinda -- I have seen quite a few dogs on "wheels" while out and about.  It looks like it's a great solution and Ruby is still enjoying life.  She probably likes the extra attention she attracts too.

Hi Belinda

I think this is a great solution as long as the dog can continue to enjoy life and doesn't appear to be suffering. And Ruby seems pretty happy to me!

This really gives me mixed feelings in dogs I have lost that couldn't move that back legs. Just as long as the dog is not suffering I guess i can accept this but too many owners can't let go when it is time to let go.

Belinda,

I think that's an outstanding accomodation for a beloved pet. There is a three legged dog in my neighborhood that gets around just fine.
