About ten years ago... I used to have a friend... a very, very good friend... who was more than a tad overweight.

In fact... she had a rather large... "behind."  When she walked through the office, or actually when she walked anywhere... when viewed from behind... her "rear end" kind of jostled back and forth, back and forth... I am sure you get the picture.

And... because she was so overweight... she walked very, very slowly.  It took a lot of effort for this poor woman to get around.

My friend's name... honestly now... my friend's name was Shirley.  And, because she walked very slowly due to her weight, and because she had such a large hind-section... some folks called her... Slowly-Butt Shirley.  <ducking>

I had to read it twice, but I now get it (slowly but surely).  Have a great day.

Update!

I looked at your title of this post and had to laugh at myself.  Ha ha ha.  Hey I am watching the NBA play offs.

It took me a second time reading it to get it, too - it's more obvious if you hear it rather than read it.

It reminds me of a schoolmate when we were kids, named Marcus.  Somebody once teased him, "I thought your name was Mucus, but now I know it's snot..."

Karen, Thank you for the sundan morning humor.... It is a great way to start the day. AJ

Lorinda:  Not to worry... even I have to read just about everything I myself write in order to understand it.  Take care... glad you enjoyed it.

Karen:  Wow... a groan... and a long one in CAPITAL letters.  One of my most favorite compliments/reactions.  Thanks a bunch.  :)

April:  You are very welcome... glad you enjoyed it.  :)

05/04/2008 12:52 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Brian:  I understand about reading it a second time.  Most everything I do makes little sense to anyone unless they think about it for awhile.  Glad you enjoyed it.  :)

05/04/2008 12:54 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

AJ:  Oh, that's right.  It's still morning out where you are.  Well, AJ... Happy Sunday Morning... and I'm glad it brought a smile to your face.  We need all the smiles we can get.  Take care...

BLR Guy:  You and one other woman always call me Anne... and my name is Karen Anne.  I have always wondered why... until now.  I looked at my picture in the upper right of this page, and Fort Worth Real Estate - Karen is on one line, and below it on te second line is Anne Stone.

So I have solved the mystery all by myself.

BLR Guy... I am glad yo liked it... and sure... Sunday is a great day to share.  Take care... Karen Anne :)

Karen Anne - I enjoyed this post.  I was wondering - did you really have a friend named Shirley?

05/04/2008 04:19 PM by Jason Crouch, Broker - Austin Texas Real Estate (Austin Texas Homes, LLC)

That was very cute. Got me chuckling after a long tiresome day.

05/04/2008 09:06 PM by Blogger To Be Named Later

Cute...I will assume that if she knew, she could laugh at herself

05/04/2008 09:10 PM by William Feela Owner/Broker North Branch,MN (Whispering Pines Realty)

Andrew:  Good for you.  I am glad I was able to provide some mirth and merriment to what sounds like a pretty long day.  Take care...

05/04/2008 09:12 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

William:  I am totally sure that this good-natured young lady would join in the fun.  If we cannot occasionally laugh at ourselves... we need someone to gently show us how.  Take care...

05/04/2008 09:13 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

It's got to be a joke?  Yes, slowly but surely!   Karen.....thanks for the laugh.

Joan:  Years ago I had a girlfriend named Kathy, and her sister was named Shirley.  She had a skinny butt, though.  It could be fat now, but I have not seen her since 1958... LOL.

05/05/2008 01:08 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Pam:  It is only one small part of my mission here to bring merriment to my friends... butt I do other things, too... LOL.  But now... back to Kathy.  Hmmm... nah, never mind... some other time... LOL...part II.  Can you tell that I really love puns ?

05/05/2008 01:10 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Good one! I have always been appreciative of a good pun. I love the irony.

05/05/2008 09:44 AM by Rosario Lewis, GRI ~ DDR Realty, Orange County, NY (DDR Realty)

Rosario:  Thanks for your kind words.  Silly little things like this just sort of "hit me" and pop into my brain when I least expect them.  Take care...

05/05/2008 03:22 PM by Lee Krepps, e-Pro (RE/MAX Realty Solutions)

Lee:  I am sure that's a lot better than them calling you Slowly Butt Shirley... LOL.  Glad you got a chuckle out of it.  Take care...

05/05/2008 07:39 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Karen Anne - very funny! You got me with this one.

05/05/2008 08:51 PM by Jackie - Mortgage Virtual Assistant (Close-More-Loans.com)

Jackie:  I am glad.  It's a real cute story... and most folks, if they try hard, can actually visualize "Slowly butt Shirley" ambling down the the office hallway.  Take care...

05/05/2008 10:11 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Karen Anne - You, my dear, are a riot.  I needed a good chuckle tonight!

05/06/2008 02:16 AM by Fairbanks Real Estate Broker Jesse Clifton (Jesse & Kathy Clifton, REALTORS - 907.699.6024 - )

Thousands of french fries and potato chips probably contributed to the making of that rear end..

05/06/2008 02:27 AM by Madeline Island Realty - Eric Kodner Sells Madeline Island

Jesse:  Reader's Digest used to have a section called "Laughter is Good Medicine."  I am sure that can be universially applied.  I am glad it made you laugh.  Take care...

05/06/2008 04:26 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Eric:  Yes, there is a definite recipe for success that will bring those results.  Now... she didn't get that way overnight... it was obviousy... Slowly Butt Surely.  Take care... rest well...

05/06/2008 04:28 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

I was going to mention the movie "Airplane"- that's the first thing I thought of...but of course if I could think of it....several brilliant AR minds would think of it first....Although I will say for those who wish to poke too much fun, much of the evidence suggests that this type of obesity is far more complex then just stuffing yourself.

05/06/2008 05:14 AM by Ruthmarie Hicks (Keller Williams Realty)

Karen Anne... you crack me up.  We definitely need to meet for coffee sometime.

05/06/2008 10:54 PM by Steve Shatsky - Dallas Real Estate & Short Sale Specialist (Keller Williams-Dallas City Center)

Ruthmarie:  Gee, I'd never make fun of someone who was obese.  I had to idea whatsoever that it even came minutely close to that.  Heck... I've got my own Slowley butt Karen... LOL.  It's just those three words don't have the same "music" to them.  Take care...

05/07/2008 12:32 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Steve:  I am so glad I was able to add a smile to your day.  I remember way back when I used to watch Mr Rogers with my daughter... he would always talk about making people smile.  Take care...

05/07/2008 12:33 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Ha Ha!  Though my perspective on weight has changed recently as I am very pregnant with my first.

05/10/2008 05:03 AM by Vanessa Krempa (Prudential New Jersey Properties)

OK Karen maybe it is still early but I had to read it twice as well, but finally got it and that was really cute
