I love fall and the colors and routines connected with it. Back to school activities, a change in sunrise/sunset, beautiful leaves, fall harvest, a crispness to the air - all these combine to let us know that the end of the year is coming - and in business, a time to evaluate your annual success.
To me, an October tradition since I was very young is the classic cartoon - "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." In the cartoon, Linus hopes his pumpkin patch is found to be the most sincere, as it is his belief that it is from the most sincere pumpkin patch that the Great Pumpkin will arise, bearing gifts.
An analogy can be made between Linus and a real estate agent's business. What are you doing to make your business "sincere?" Do clients believe you will do anything to get a commission, even at the expense of your duty to do what is best for them? Do people compare you to a "used car salesman?" Do people know that when you say you will do something, you do it? Are you looking out for your clients? When it is best for your buyers to terminate a transaction, are you working hard to make sure their earnest money is returned? When the agent on the other side asks you for updates, are you promptly responding to their inquiries? Are you sincere and honest in your dealings with all parties?
When you prove your sincerity by your actions, your business can thrive. I hope for you, the "Great Pumpkin" will arise from your sincere work bearing gifts. Happy October!
