Inventory of Reno homes in the lower price ranges has become scarce. More affordable Reno senior living is coming courtesy Vintage at the Crossings.Just four weeks ago, I talked about the Lincoln Way Senior Apartments that opened up in Sparks.  They offer affordable living for lower income seniors and veterans.  More affordable Reno senior living is coming soon.  Last Monday, Vintage Housing and GreenStreet broke ground on a new facility to be named Vintage at The Crossings.

More Affordable Reno Senior Living On its Way

Search Reno homes for saleSeptember 2016's housing stats for Reno showed that the median price for a single-family residence is around $400,000.  You simply cannot find homes under $100,000.  Rarely, you may see one or two under $150,000.  Condos provide a larger choice in these lower price ranges.  That can hurt anyone with lower incomes.  Senior citizens with fixed incomes get hit particularly hard when trying to locate housing.  However, the news that more affordable Reno senior living is on its way means more choices for senior citizens.

Vintage at the Crossings

The new more affordable Reno senior living facility known as Vintage at the Crossings will be constructed near Old Virginia Rd and Damonte Ranch Pkwy in South Meadows.  Conveniently located right next to South Town Crossing, the facility should be move-in ready next summer.  The five-story structure will house 230 one- and two-bedroom units.  Residents must be aged 55 or older and meet strict income requirements.  Rents are expected to range from $500 to $800 per month.

Each apartment in the Vintage at the Crossings facility will be energy-efficient.  Individual units will be between 580 and 800 square feet in size.  Several large community areas have been worked into the plans to allow for social interaction among residents.  The developers are discussing other possible amenities with local senior citizens.  That could mean some changes might be made while construction is underway.

Quick September 2016 Reno Market Update

As I stated above, the median price for a stick built home is around $400,000.  It is rare to find a single-family home under $150,000.  Buyers fare better with condos in that range.  Different areas around town have different price tags.  Contact me today to create a strategy for where to look for your next Reno home.

On th webpage for Vintage at the Crossings it states 1 bedrooms will be $500, they are now $774, why the difference in price? $774 is way too expensive for us seniors to pay.
