First Blog Of The 2016 Progression Of Fall Colors In Durham, CT. Fall Has Arrived In Middletown Connecticut. which means it is time for me to begin my Progression Of Fall Colors series I started five years ago. This is a series I hoped to continue for many more years to come, and have been able to do so far. The first two years the pictures were of a farm which is only about a minute walk from my house. Two years ago I decided to change the location for the 2014 Progression Of Fall Color Series to a lake about 5 minutes from my house on RT17. I tried that location for two years, but colors were not as good as I expected them to be. So for this fifth year in my Progression of Fall colors series, I am going to try a new site located at Lyman's Orchards in Durham CT. I went by this site last year and thought the colors were among the best in my area, so I am hoping for the same this year.
I am starting the 2016 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT about a week later than I have in previous years. Normally in my first blog in the Progression Of Fall Colors the trees in the picture are completely green. However, this year the leaves started to turn colors early, and since I started a week late, some of the trees have already changed color.
As I have done for the last five years, I will post pictures of this same spot at different points throughout the Fall to show the progression of the Fall colors. You will notice in this picture several cars. That is because this is an apple orchard, and many people were there on this day picking apples. There will be less cars in pictures going forward as apple picking season comes to an end.
Fall is a beautiful time of the year in New England, and even though last year was better than the three previous years, it still was not what I had hoped for. I have become spoiled by the beautiful colors we normally see during the Fall, so I am hoping this year the colors are truly be outstanding. My favorite colors are the trees with yellow, orange, and rust color leafs when they blend together.
Anyone planning to come to New England to enjoy our Fall colors at their peak, should plan on coming between the last two weeks in October to the beginning of November. It is to early to get a feel for what the colors will be like this year, but I will be trying to show the progression of the trees as they turn colors throughout the Fall.
Fall Has Arrived In Durham Connecticut and I hope you follow my series of the change in Fall colors starting with this First Blog Of The 2016 Progression Of Fall Colors In Durham, CT.
