Stimulate and Save

So you're getting money back from Uncle Same to spend. And yes, the idea is to spend it!

While I think its a great idea to save the money or at least pay off some debt with it, the fact of the matter is that most American's do not save. We spend. That's why the government is so sure you will use it to get the economy going.

So how do you spend while saving? Look for ways to spend the money that will provide returns in savings. One example... replacing a worn out storm door. The newer ones are more energy efficent and can help save you money.

Well, let's see.....2,000,000 storm doors at $200 per, equals $400,000,000. of sales.  Now, some storm door company would like to see that happen!  Great idea, I'm not knocking it.  Better than $400,000,000. of candy or cigarettes.  And (ugh!) I suppose that some of every check will go to pay the gasoline bill.

That is the idea of the package........I just bought 2 new windows with my state tax and when Uncle Sam gives this money to me I am buying a new front door and screen door.  You are right, in the long run, it will save energy and money!

A new storm door? That just doesn't sound as fun as a new flat screen!

Way to ring the bell for some responsible spending, Ed. I should really get my sprinkler system patched up...but Disneyland calls. :)
