Those at the beaches faired much better than other areas of North Carolina. It seems like the inland communities were hit worse than those right on the coast. Residents along the inland rivers are dealing with the receding floodwaters that are causing the rivers to crest. Yesterday and today, emergency responders have been making forced evacuations, because people didn't leave when they were first warned. Very sad, but those of us who have lived here a while know how to handle when a hurricane comes through.
