Negativity only makes the strong stronger....What I learnt from Tom Cruise's interview with Oprah.

Catching up on Active Rain I came across Fernando Rosado's blog and it made me want to share something I learnt recently.....

I was watching Tom Cruise's interview on Oprah this past Friday. He is celebrating 25 years in the movie business. In these 25 years he has gone from a newbie dancing around in his underwear ala "risky business" to a legend and the biggest name out there. He is only 44.

There has been controversy along the way, oh yes.His divorce from Nicole Kidman. The controversy with Brooke Shields and Matt Louer and the one that stunned the public...his dancing around like a school boy on Oprah's couch proclaiming his undying love for Katie Holmes. They had never seen this side of Cruise who was normally so poised and composed. And last but not least the  affiliation with his religion of choice, Scientology.

Through all this he remained calm and behaved like a perfect gentleman. He apologised to those whom he hurt with his comments and about the rest he just shrugged and said "it was in the moment" .That makes him human to me and my respect for him is greater than ever before.

So what I learnt was to work hard and be honest with myself and others and if, along the way you upset or hurt people, apologise. It doesn't make you a lesser person. In fact, it raises you in the eyes of others. After all, Cruise managed to make it back on Oprah despite the negativity.

So Fernando and anyone else out there who has faced the ugliness of jealousy and hate, hang in there and learn from the legend of our time.

Do you remember the Janet Reno, acceptance of blame, it made her more human, and indeared us to her it removed the robot label she had gotten and changed many peoples feelings and level of respect the public had for the attorney general.

Quick to listen, slow to anger and slow to speak, right?
