The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) created Get Organized Month™ (GO Month™), a month-long initiative that focuses attention on how getting organized empowers people to regain control over their lives. During GO Month every January, dozens of NAPO chapters and thousands of members hold public events throughout the country to raise awareness of the benefits of organization. The events range from contests and giveaways to free organizing services. (taken from the NAPO website)
NAPO chapters are passionate about GO Month.
In past:
- NAPO-NY volunteered to organize the recreation room for Liberty LEADS, an after-school program at the Bank Street College of Education.
- Reverend Karen Monk of the Kaaterskill United Methodist Church, a First Responder in the Catskills Mountain region which was hit hard by Hurricane Irene, got some help turning her office into a multi-purpose, restful space. NAPO-NY was proud to assist.
- NAPO-NY has organized three shoes drives for Soles4Souls.
- Long Island Cares, a food bank founded by Harry Chapin, welcomed the brains and brawn of Professional Organizers of Long Island.
- NAPO South FL gave a hand to Sheridan House Family Ministries in 2016.
- The NAPO Seattle 2016 effort gave a lift to GayCity. Our 2013 shoe drive for Soles4Souls was a tremendous success, sending 20,560 to people in need. in 2010, the USO facility at SeaTac International Airport and McChord Airforce Base got a fresh start in its offices, laundry room, kitchen and more!
Consider teaming up with your local NAPO chapter during GO Month. Shred events, recycling drives, your branches of Rebuilding Together, non-profits, houses of worship, schools and so many more possibilities to do good exist.
