The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op Weekend Debut

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

We've been shopping at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op since we first moved to Sacramento some 14 years ago. We used to shop at the Whittier Co-Op in Minneapolis, because my husband insists on organic food. When I use the collective word "we" I really mean my husband because he is the grocery food shopper in our family.

I intensely dislike shopping for groceries. I have to do it when he goes out of town, and it's an awful chore. Although, it's not so bad at the new location for our Sacramento co-op in Midtown. This co-op has been around since 1973, and it spent 43 years at its old location on Alhambra before moving into its new Midtown digs last week. You can see all the photographs and hear about my trip to the store yesterday in my personal blog at this link: Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op New Location Bedazzles.

Those are amazing pictures of the new digs for the Natural Foods Co-Op.

One day, I will take you back in time.  On the ground were the original Co-op was on Alhambra, there use to be an old fashioned Farmer's Market.  It had a permanent roof, with permanent wooden booths back then, but it was open air. When I was a kid back in the 1950s, I went there EVERY Satruday morning with my mom and dad.  I have pictures of it somewhere!

So what happened Myrl Jeffcoat ? Why would you go to a Farmer's Market in the 1950s but not the co-op in the 1970s? Although we sometimes go to the Farmer's Market under the W / X Freeway because we can easily walk there from Land Park. You should really check out the new location for the co-op. It might turn you into an organic enthusiast.

Hi Elizabeth -- wow -- the appearance and selection found at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op is quite impressive.  I like those wide aisles too especially when I need to navigate around those who love to linger --- when I go shopping, I'm on a mission...in/out and know which cashiers move quickest.

This reminds me very much of the Whole Foods a couple towns over that my husband and I try to get to every once in a while.
