Create You Own Visual Style

Create your own visual style...

let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.

--- Orson Welles

While walking through the streets of WhiteFish, a mountain resort town in Montana, I came upon this fence. Quirky or not, it gave me happiness and immediate pleasure. It's not your everyday fence. I consider it, extraordinary, not ordinary creativity, in other words, someone's very own visual style. From my perspective, creativity is an attitude, something that stops you in your tracks and gets you out of the mundane, everyday life experiences.

Someone had a vision. Their idea was unique and now identifiable to anyone who sees it in my photograph or goes there to admire themselves. Someone was gutsy and wasn't afraid to challenge themselves by creating a different type of style. We can identify it as a fence but again, not an ordinary fence. In person... I was seeing something extraordinary. I'm convinced, being creative is pure happiness, intended pleasure. Whatever is uniquely created and on display introduces the world to something distinctive and if you like it, pleasurable.

We have all seen different types of fences which prove to me there is always more than one right way to build a fence. The same is true in marketing yourself. It's all in the vision that begins with breaking the same old patterns to become identifiably you!

While the style of the building is interesting, it is the whimsical look of the fence that captures my imagination.  I love it!

Thank you, Myrl Jeffcoat - I liked your description, "whimsical look." Both the interior and exterior of the building were interesting but it was the fence that pulled me in with its intriguing charm! I loved it too

Hi Patricia Feager, definitely an unusual fence, one that captured my attention for sure..I like it! Isn't that marketing all about? We try to stand out from the crowd to capture the attention of our audience.

You're so right Beth Atalay! In order to effectively market yourself, you have to set yourself apart. There were so many cute shops on this main street in Montana but this one really got my attention and I will always remember it because of its uniqueness.

Why Patricia!  I know it is 3 hours away but compared to Texas I believe if I had known you were in White Fish Kalispell area I would have done my darnest to say hello.  The fence does not surprise me.  Whitefish being very artsy craftsy.  Some very nice art shops down main street.  mark

Hi Sybil Campbell

I would hope every homeowner has a visual style. But I've been in homes that made me scratch my head. Some people could use a Jennie or a decorator to help them out.

Patricia, such a beautiful fence and it makes my imagination run. I think one of the many wonderful things about owning a home is that we get to create our own visual style within it's walls.

We all start with a blank canvas and paint three pictures. The one of the surroundings that we capture and broadcast around the globe. For the local community flavor to have on tap, for the "this is how things rock and roll on my turf". This is what you are missing, what you would enjoy living here. The next picture the properties, listings at the right angle, with healthy helpings of plat maps, floor plans, feature lists, eye candy wove into a narrative written in a conversational friendly tone with imagery, video loops stitched together to show how this one differs from all the rest. Then thirdly, go easy on the personal branding. But how you do the first two pictures is what defines your style and creativity. How you sing, dance, hokey pokey is in the presentation. Hey. That's what it's all about. Neat fence, nice curves on the building Patricia Feager !

Andrew Mooers - you are such a fascinating person who has deep thoughts about nature, business, and marketing. Your personal insights are amazing! I really like the photograph you shared and your words too! Although I never saw a hammock swing, dripping in icicles, I would have stopped and taken photos too.
