Many years ago, we purchased the Domain Name www.CarmelValleyCalifornia.com.
Over the years, I've kept putting interesting information on there for various reasons, most recently because I use it as a "community" website for my real estate business. People can go to the website and find hotels, restaurants, vineyards and wine tasting rooms, art galleries, shopping, services, and activities, even wedding information. All in all, people love that website and I have several thousand unique visitors go to it every month.
In fact, now that I get so many visitors to it, I feel an OBLIGATION to make it more and more helpful, especially because I see that many find me on their PHONES. That means, they are probably right in Carmel Valley trying to find places.
The website is so popular on the search engines, especially GOOGLE, that we beat out the various chambers of commerce and visitors websites and all the big sites that have taken over the travel area.
Yes, just look for "carmel valley california" and there we are. Sorry, San Diego, you also have a Carmel Valley, but I trump (can I use that word here?) you too!!
So it takes dilligence and work to keep my website visitors happy. How do I do that?
I HAVE ADDED SOME MAPS OF LOCATIONS IN CARMEL VALLEY VILLAGE.
Carmel Valley Village is 13 miles up Carmel Valley Road, the place to go especially on weekends. Visitors, locals, everyone loves to go and spend time up there. Just park your car and, when you look at my maps, you can see that it is a walkable little place.
I've also put the actual addresses and phone numbers on there so as not to frustrate people if they want to make a reservation or look it up on their GPS.
TRACKING PEOPLE ON THE WEBSITE:
Since I am the "author" of the website, I put links to my real estate business on each page. I then check GOOGLE ANALYTICS to see how effective that is.
And it's been pretty good, but there is always room for improvement!!
This morning, I made some changes on the primary pages that identified me and my brokerage MUCH more specifically. It will be interesting to see what happens.
If this goes well, then I have a whole bunch of other websites that will be updated, reworked with more information, etc.
Check out my website www.CarmelValleyCalifornia.com and let me know what you think. Any advice will be appreciated.
This is my contest entry for October, click here.
In answer to the three questions the contest poses:
(1) Yes, this particular website has been giving me a lot of leads that I have tracked over many years. It's been a constant source of income for about 20 years!
(2) Yes, I get repeat business. But the "Wine" section is my current "star". It gets 3 times more visitors than the number that link through from the opening page! My most interesting client that I made through this wine section? Someone wanted to open a wine tasting room and needed information on how to go about it and where a likely place would be to lease. Yes, I found out! A new "niche".
(3) Finally, I plan to improve and expand this lead generation tool. For example, in the past, I was pretty low key about the fact that I am a real estate broker, BUT NO MORE.
