As a kid, Halloween was celebrated on October 31st. It was a very fun event for me and my 10 siblings. We didn't get candy very often, so on Halloween evening we all went out together with our empty sacks/pillow cases knowing we would return with them all full.
And indeed, all our bags were overflowing with candy. We walked up and down hills with anticipation of receiving more and more treats. Mom would let us have a few pieces and then she would put it away for later. Knowing we would probably eat candy until we got sick. I have great memories of my youth on Halloween. Today Halloween is celebrated the entire month of October with ghost tours, concerts, parties, etc.
Our home was never decorated for Halloween. I don't even remember having a pumpkin on the porch. My house is decorated inside and outside, but not with lights or anything dramatic. Here are a few photos of my Halloween decor.
This wreath I've had for years.
My sister-in-law made this for me and hangs on the front of the storm door.
So here is what the front porch looks like now.
Below is my favorite indoor Halloween decor, the happy pumpkin!
I purchased this ceramic fella 17 years ago ... so cute!
