Matthew....

I think the BEST thing to do is get a stager to talk to you and get some of their input...... OR a home decorator or a commercial decorator.

That is the BEST I can do, except to say.... comment #1 is right on the good path.... =-D

Get a stager, or just look at the Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware catalogs to see the hot colors. =)  For design/space, I wrote a long time ago about an office decision that we made in building this office, to have a kids' conference room.  It's been great for clients' kids and agents' kids alike.

you can also get free consultations by the companies that sell office furniture...

IKEA is a good choice even though I'm pretty sure Idaho doesn't have one.  Call them up and you can fax them a copy of the floorplan and they'll lay something out for you taht you can refer to on their online catalog.

The big trick is nailing your look and your office machines.

If you want a high end copier - call around for quotes.  You can LEASE them... and the click through prices can be affordable if you're working in bulk.  You provide the paper and the company like IKON does the rest.   If you get in a built in network card and fax board you'll drive all the costs in your office down... but if one piece dies, the whole thing needs service.  Get a fax service on your phonelines... you can get it from the phone company - or eFax...or if you receive/send a lot of faxes you can get a fax SERVER (computer for sending & receiving only) and save the paper.

Matthew -

I would jump at the chance to come to your office if you were here in Indiana, but it is hard to give much advice from so far away.  Right now, warmth is the trend - gold, rust and brown.  It looks great with leather furniture.  But, do you have a leather furniture type office?  This is best decided by someone standing in the space.

Matthew:

I don't think good advice can be given without seeing a picture of your office, and knowing what is normally done in your neck of the woods.  I know I was drawn to working for my broker because I was impressed with the professional, but warm environment they present.  Small town and small office, but great first impression.

I'd say use earth tones with solid oak trim.
