The Door County real estate market has been picking up steadily since August, but prices are varied. For every high sale, there is a low sale that balances it out, so my prediction is that this month will have a nominal increase in the median sale price for condominiums (and homes). In fact, for the State of Wisconsin, September turned into a PHENOMENAL month for home and condominium sales, with the following reported by the Wisconsin Realtors Association:
MADISON, Wis. — Summer home sales in Wisconsin ended on a very strong note in August, pushing prices up at a pace well above the rate of inflation, according to the most recent analysis of the state housing market conducted by the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA). August sales were up 9 percent over August 2015, making this the strongest August since 2005. The median price rose to $170,000 in August, which was 5.3 percent higher than August 2015. With annual inflation ranging between 0.8 percent and 1.4 percent through July of this year, housing prices are growing at more than three times the rate of inflation. Condominium sales have been BRISK this autumn, especially in the under $300,000 range, with most action happening in the $250,000 and below range--but there have been some big sales, also. We've had a lot off showings in our waterfront and water view condominium categories. What does this mean for the Seller? Increased showings leading to SALES. What does this mean for the Buyer? Low interest rates are slowly creeping up, and Door County' s plethora of condominium inventory has been dwindling--making this a very good time to buy.
