When I first started selling real estate in New Jersey six years ago,I met a fellow Realtor who gave me her card, only the photo was so old that I laughed to myself, as I didn't want to humiliate her in front of my clients. Her photo made her look as though she was 25 max- .  She is probably 55 or so, Her business card photo showed her in full bloom of youth.

Although I secretly thought this was ridiculous, I realized recently just how long it has been since I had a professional photo taken. My previous business card photo was from 2001. Which I thought made me look 10 years younger, but I knew It would still be a good idea to change my photo as many of my clients would say Update that picture NOW!  So I did.

I hope I grew old gracefully-   This photo on my blog was recently replaced and taken by a professional.

At any rate, I honestly feel that we as professionals should be required to change our photos as we have to do for our passports.  It's misleading to the public when we advertise ourselves as younger .

Be proud of who you are, -

last but not least- The agent Still has the same photo 6 years later- and YES my clients did say something to her at closing-

I wonder if the photo is not telling the truth, is there something else not being told?  Probably not fair... some just can't face the reality of aging!

I know Im having a hard time facing aging...lol.  If it were up to me, all of my pics would be of me when I was 22 and skinny...lol

I've had to change my photo every few years just to keep up with my hairline!

I have a picture on my card. I think you should update evey year or so. I also have a professional "head hunter" / recruiter in my office and he is completely fascinated by the idea of having a picture on a "business" card at all.  He feels it is unprofessional and simply does not understand this phenomenon.

I know the feeling! I went with a caricature logo so I would never grow old! lol It lets clients feel the fun side of me. I put up my real photo on Activerain yesterday for a little bit. Sometimes I change up the hair color on the logo to give it pizazz!

I just HATE having my picture taken, but it is that dreaded time again. I like to update my photo every few years, at least....maybe a face lift every 10 years would save a new photo needing to be taken? lol

I dread new photos!  I've been seriously considering going photo-less instead!

I worked with a client from out of town last year. I had mailed them lots of information and included my card. The first time we met when they arrived the comment was wow you actually do look like your picture. Later I asked them what they ment. The wife states we have worked with realtors in the past and many times they have a very young picture on their card and take it as a glam shot.

I think people just as you did with the other realtor think it is ridiculous. Good for you and the picture looks great!

There some agents in my area who are still using their high school graduation picture. In some cases I don't know if it is so much vanity as it is just not updating the photo. Time seems to fly as you get older and before you know it, it seems like you just did graduate. I agree, if you have a photo on your card it should be updated every so often.

Good Post!
