Beware of this Scam!
Yesterday, I answered my landline from my home office, which is a rare event as I normally never answer my landline.
The person on the other line introduced himself as a representative from a company that was hard to understand initially and asked me if I had downloaded a video because his company was getting messages from my server that there was some sort of an issue.
What server was the first thing that popped up in my mind and what company are you with again is what I asked him.
This time he said his company services Microsoft and again I heard the spiel about my server giving out errors and that he needs to access my computer to fix the problem.
Really.....you want me to approve you accessing my computer remotely when I do not know who you are!!!!!????
I told him...email me your company's contact information and let me call the company. I went onto to tell him, I will not let anyone access my computer from a phone call I did not illicit.
He was rather persistent but I was more persistent in that he was not going anywhere near my computer.
He agreed to email me his company information. The email never came, never thought it would.
I then called my virus protection service and was told these types of phone calls are scams to plant a malware in ones computer. No big surprise there.
I am sure everyone knows this but just a reminder... Microsoft will never call anyone out of the blue and ask you to access your computer.
Let's put these folks out of business by not falling for their schemes.
