Almost Wordless Wednesday: La Jolla Landmark

La Jolla Landmark

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a striking commentary on the architectural skyline in La Jolla, CA.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

You can't miss it driving along the I-5 freeway heading north or south to/from San Diego, and the view of this Mormon Temple up close on a bright sunny day is pretty remarkable. It's also readily seen from atop Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, which offers stunning 360 views for miles, especially when it's clear.

Thanks for sharing your photograph. That is a beautiful church. They have a more modest church in Kentlands, our home community in Gaithersburg, MD.

Hi Jeff Dowler - One of my favorite locations was LaJolla.  I always chuckled just a little when someone unfamiliar with Spanish pronounced it.  The coast line in that area can be very dramatic!

Jeff,

This is a beautiful church, and it reminds me of their Temple in Salt Lake.  Every year if the snow is good,  we fly in to ski prior to Christmas, and always visit the grounds.  They have over 3 million lights.  A

Hi Roy Kelley  - guess I didn't raalize that. Seems to me there is one in DC, right?

Sheri Sperry - MCNE  - Ah, yes, La Jolla gets mispronounced quite a bit. And you are so right - an amazing bit of coastline there.

I haven't seen that one but have been by the ones in DC and Boston as well. Pretty impressive architecture! I don't think I have a photo of our La Jolla temple lit up but it is stunning.

I honestly don't recall ever seeing it. BUT I'm a country mouse so I'm REALLY not looking around when I'm driving on the interstate.  25 miles is the closest interstate my office.

Jeff.  This looks like a painting not a photo.  So very nice with the contrast against the white.  Mark

Great picture, Jeff. I know the landmark is amazing, but you made it look good in a picture, too.
