Halloween Story: The Haunted Skyscraper
Gather round the lantern and listen, if you dare,
to the story of The Haunted Skyscraper:
Once upon a time, a young lady inherited a skyscraper from her rich executive uncle. It was a grey and cold looking building, and every time she entered the skyscraper she felt a shiver.
Regardless, the young lady established an office on the top floor and set to work building a real estate business. She soon came to realize the building was haunted. Each day, as she went about her work, she would hear creaking and squeaking noises, a slow sliding sound, and a deep voice would intone, "I am the viper. I am the viper."
The young lady attempted to uncover the source of the noises, but the skyscraper was so overwhelmingly tall, she could never quite locate the haunting voice and the creaks that accompanied it. She eventually became used to the sounds and was able to work without letting them distract her.
One day, however, she realized the noises were near her office.
Creak creak. Squeak squeak. Slide. "I am the viper. I am the viper."
The young lady went out in the hallway to investigate. She found nothing.
Creak creak. Squeak squeak. Slide. "I am the viper. I am the viper."
The young lady went to the elevator. Still nothing. The sounds grew louder and closer.
Creak creak. Squeak squeak. Slide. "I am the viper. I am the viper."
The young lady ran from office to office. Should she stay? Should she leave the building? She was terrified and intrigued at the same time.
Creak creak. Squeak squeak. Slide. "I am the viper. I am the viper."
The young lady ran to the window to look outside.
There on scaffolding was a little old man with a bucket and squeegee. He smiled at her.
Creak creak. Squeak squeak. Slide. "I am the viper. I am here to vipe your vindows!"
