Google announces a Mobile first search engine policy
It seems like the world is moving towards tablets and phones and this is where Google is going to reward sites that comply. Though, being the dinosaur I am, I feel that many people miss an awful lot by doing their searches on their mobile devices.
I subscribe to Wordtracker because the articles are authoritative and always worth reading. So imagine my surprise when I read just now that Google will have a mobile first search engine index and de-emphasize a desktop first system. The article ways this is a few months away but mobile compatibility is up to 85% in searches so the ascendancy is already there. Since the iPhone came out I felt like it was becoming an app world so doing YouTube videos seemed instinctively the right way to go because the public just like with Facebook could go effortlessly to the app in a direct fashion. The question remains, how will this affect long form advertising like 1000 word blogs? I am no genius on this and don't have an immediate and correct insight to it but I would love to here your comments on whether this is the beginning of the end of blogging, ot does it mean that blogging which has lost it's dominant position in putting out our message will stay relevant. When change comes that seems as dramatic as this, one has to question is this the end of business as usual.
