5 tips to manage your time online

Get it done with Google

You can create a live poll with spreadsheets forms.
You can embed a video from YouTube into your presentation.
You can view and edit word processing documents. You can also view spreadsheets and presentations offline.
Write your posts in Google Docs and publish them to your blog.
Use tags to organize your documents effectively.

Make Portability your X-Factor

In a previous post I discussed my crush for Amazon's Kindle- a portable reading device. At that time, this little gadget was out of stock. Well now it's in and ready for you to go crazy on reading- it gets over 300 blogs, the world's top newspapers, novels, ebooks and more. All that content displayed on a gadget that weighs in at a mere 10.3 ounces. A companion for your morning coffee or nightly aperitif. Bon Appetit.

Save a hard drive and store it online

Where are you storing your pics? Free up some space on your hard drive and give yourself access to your pictures on any computer with an Internet connection by trusting in online storage. Two sites that can help you do this are Flickr and Photobucket. Both allow you to share your pics and store them online. Whether you are seeking to build another community or create online photobooks these websites will help you accomplish your priorities.

This might also make it easier to use your own "non-infringing" copyright, very original, self-made photos on your blog posts.

Keep up with the Jones's

So many tools, but where is the time? Often I will read this in comments on my blog or a fellow associate's post. The key factor in choosing your blogging tool endeavors should be WIIFM (Whats In It For Me). If the tool you are considering will increase your productivity, save you time, produce a payoff, or bring you pleasure- go for it.

If you are unsure or if the tool is only going to produce more work without any foreseeable benefit leave it off your priority list. I choose the tools that will help me bring home the bacon. The carb heavy sites get pushed to the side of my plate to be savored later when I can afford to splurge a little with my time.

Rebecca, I have Vista which up until recently has been a sore subject for me but this week I learned how to use the snipping tool and WOW has it made my life easier. It takes me a fraction of the time to save a screen shot now; which is too cool!!

Great idea - I've been whacked by the number of photos I've taken...storing them on flickr is a great idea. i don't have to have all of them public! Great big DUH! on that one.

REBECCA - Thanks for the tips. I'm going to check out some of the things that you mentioned. I've heard of Kindle before, but never really looked into it. I've always subscribed to the WIIFM mentality as well.

Liz- Don't get me wrong, I love the carbs,but not when they disturb my overall presence. Moderation is key.

Marchel- Thank you for sharing your tip. That sounds like a cool tool.

Ruthmarie- There are no DUH's. Can't tell you how long it has taken me til my desktop was cluttered with images, still working on it all. Next I want to use a backup storage online to back up documents etc and maybe even use my scanner to- gasp- start scanning my paper in and truly start to go more paperless. Imagine:-)
