Recently I posted about what needs to be included in a winter survival kit for your car. Aimed at clients, I recommended things like a jump starter battery pack and a MUST-HAVE AAA Sever-weather road kit.
And after posting this, I couldn't help but wonder if there were other items that would be needed specific to real estate agents who show homes in the winter months.
A few things that every Real Estate agent working in winter climates should have on hand in their car:
1. Snow melt. Listing agents, I recommend having a bag of this stashed at any vacant listing you have as well. For buyers agents, you never know when you will be out showing homes that will have ice patches. Best to keep this on hand so you can sprinkle some ahead of the client. It may not actually melt the ice in time for your client to walk on, but at least it will provide some traction.
2. Snow shovel. Showing houses in the winter, I've come upon many that are unshoveled. It never hurts to keep one handy in case the snow is making it difficult for your client to access. Better a little elbow grease than a missed a showing that could lead to a sale!
3. De-icer windsheild spray. You know how it goes. You get that last-minute call from a client to see a house, or from an agent showing one of your listings and there's an issue. You need to get into your car and head out right away. It's helpful to keep de-icer spray in your car just in case.
Of course, there are certain things every agent in any climate keeps on hand - like a phone charger! But these few items could prove to be worth their weight in gold when you need them.
