I Voted Early!

I vote.  I don't think I've ever missed voting in a Presidential election.  And during the last few cycles, I voted early.

Not only does voting early make sure that I got my vote in, but it has allowed me to do volunteer work on the real election day.  One year, I drove up to a cute town in Pennsylvania and drove little old ladies to their polling places.  Another time, I manned a help desk in Virginia in a precinct where there was confusion - they'd just changed the boundaries, and people were showing up at the wrong place to vote. So we helped them figure out where they were supposed to go and ran a little shuttle service for those needing a ride.

I met some new citizens voting for the very first time, and voting  was such an exciting privilege - just as it was a privilege to assist them in any way they needed.

Voting early has a lot of advantages.  There are not super long lines, for one thing!

And it's fun! The workers seemed cheerful and relaxed.  I went with a friend, and we had a wonderful lunch at a little French cafe on Connecticut Avenue.  Now we're looking for someplace to volunteer!

I've never been political and there have been years I didn't even vote and years I've gone to the polls and left the ballot blank.

I am so excited to have a candidate I believe in this year and can't wait to cast my ballot for Gary Johnson.

I wish we had early voting here in NH but we don't.

Alesha, it'll be fun not to have to stand in line!  I'm guessing they'll be pretty long.

Gabe, and you don't have to wade through mobs of people shoving campaign brochures in your face!

Sheila, I started voting early about six elections ago.  It's nice to just get it done.

Anna, it's pretty simple, and twice as many people voted early this time compared to 2012.

Chris Ann, there is a lot of that in this area.  It's good to see people voting.

George, getting the vote done gives us a lot of options about helping at the polls or with one of the campaigns.

Dick, it's almost like holing up for a blizzard.  Stock up on lots of wine and ginger snaps and pate and veg for a few days!

Myrl, I wonder if the overall turnout is going to be as strong as the early voting.

Debbie, my friend and I combined voting with a nice lunch.  That made it fun.

Hi Pat --- I find something kinda exciting about voting in person on Election Day. It seems many people vote absentee in our area(at least in the past) and with this year we have 20 state/low ballot propositions on our ballot -- I may regret my decision but I plan to be at my polling station at 7AM on Tuesday.

Good for you for volunteering -- I admit to never even thinking about that option -- pretty cool.

Hi there Pat, like Michael Jacobs I love going to the polls on election day but I've been doing phone calling the past 2 weeks and hoping that it makes a difference, particularly in the down ballot elections!
