I vote. I don't think I've ever missed voting in a Presidential election. And during the last few cycles, I voted early.
Not only does voting early make sure that I got my vote in, but it has allowed me to do volunteer work on the real election day. One year, I drove up to a cute town in Pennsylvania and drove little old ladies to their polling places. Another time, I manned a help desk in Virginia in a precinct where there was confusion - they'd just changed the boundaries, and people were showing up at the wrong place to vote. So we helped them figure out where they were supposed to go and ran a little shuttle service for those needing a ride.
I met some new citizens voting for the very first time, and voting was such an exciting privilege - just as it was a privilege to assist them in any way they needed.
Voting early has a lot of advantages. There are not super long lines, for one thing!
And it's fun! The workers seemed cheerful and relaxed. I went with a friend, and we had a wonderful lunch at a little French cafe on Connecticut Avenue. Now we're looking for someplace to volunteer!
