What will happen to the Real Estate Market the day after the election?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Godzyk Real Estate Services NH License 033394

One week from today we will all wake up to having a new President, elect of the United States of America. When it comes to Real Estate, what can we all expect? Right now consumer confidence is real low and some markets have slowed waiting out the election.

There has been no shortage  of discussions here in the Manchester NH area what will happen 1 week from today. The top three choices seem to be: A. No change, B. A full fledged panic, or C. A Real Estate market that starts to flourish again.

In Choice A. You may not think anything will change. That the way things are today will continue through the fall and into winter.

In Choice B. No matter who wins, 45% of America could be quite upset. How upset may be in direct relation to the media's headlines come 1 week from today. No matter who wins, do you think there will be a rash of new home listings for those moving to Canada? Either way I think not, but I will list any home who says they are heading out.

In Choice C. Who ever wins, starts to heal the country by bringing everyone back together. Markets could flourish as we begin to grow the economy again,

IN SUMMARY: No matter who wins, life will go on. We still have to go to work. Kids still have to go to school. We still have to support our families. The dream of home ownership will be alive and well. With low interest rates we could see a spike in first time home buyers. Families will once again be comfortable to move to that bigger home. Older folks will be comfortable to move to 1 story low maintenance homes.

The most critical part of Buying or Selling a home is the Agent/Broker you choose. You have a choice of agents. Use your choice to hire the BEST agent in your area.

YOU deserve the BEST service when Buying or Selling a home

LEARN THIS ONE FACT:

All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest Agent or Company.

It does not take magic to turn your "For Sale" sign into a "Sold" sign. It takes a full time Local Agent who specializes in Listing homes like yours.

Hi Scott - While there is a lot of anxiety apparent in the run-up to the election, we have yet to hear of anyone delaying plans because of it, and our seasonal slowdown seems to be just that.

Dick Greenberg here I have spoken to many folks who are holding off, i ply the former listing list well and am told by many they are just taking off the market. Many people will go into detail and my message is that i am there when they are ready.

I am going to bet that the housing market will react to any mortgage interest rate change more than who wins the election.  A lot is riding on how the FED rolls out any rate changes.

I think we have seen tremendous growth this year....both in housing and our booming commercial areas....and no election ...how about that !

It's hard to believe that this election will be over and done with this time next week. I hope that everyone gets out and votes, ideally, for a candidate that is not corrupt.

Aside from that, it isn't going to do much good worrying about what is going to happen. We need to simply focus on serving our clients to the best of our ability and keeping new leads for future business in the pipeline.

So far, as in every election, the ones winning are the ad agencies and sign makers!  Anxiously awaiting the outcome!!

Scott Godzyk I see recession and depression on the horizon.  I believe those folks who say they will move to Canada are blowing smoke....especially the celebrities.

Here in metro Ft Lauderdale, an agent took a bill board ad advertising on a busy thoroughfare, he would list your home if you were planning to move to Canada after the election.

I have lived through 10-18% interest rates and YES, properties sell.  Seller financing will be back.  Plenty of fund money available for commercial purchases with a small ROI but not too many incentives for the small investor

I'm going to wake up next Wednesday morning and say "Oh, Lord, what have we done?" no matter what. We could have had better choices. I am going to vote for the lesser of the two evils and pray that my candidate wins so improvement will be made in some areas. It will definitely be a brand new era -- no matter who wins.

Life will go on but it will be much better for our nation if a particular candidate is elected otherwise nothing much will change and we'll continue to stagnate.

Hopeful that no matter who wins...the other one concedes and we don't have the distraction of the election any more. Oh if only the campaign season was limited to 60 days!

Hi Scott. I came to the conclusion a while ago that it almost doesn't matter who gets elected... things will be what they will be and we will all adjust as we need to.

Let the drumroll begin.....  It's anybody's guess but you're right, we all have to go back to business as usual.
