5 Inexpensive Ways to Make Your Home Look More Expensive

You're Selling Your Home, Not Your Stuff

The next step will be to schedule the photographer to come out and take photos for your listing to be shared via the internet, social media, as well as some print ads. Your Real Estate Agent will typically have a photographer that they know and trust to shoot your home. You are more than welcome to ask for references and examples of the photographer's work prior to shooting.

These pictures will be what entices your potential buyer to schedule a showing to view your home.  We all know that you should not judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a home. However, it happens! This is what buyers will look at when making their first impression and judging whether or not your home will fit the needs of their family.

Here are some tips for getting your home ready for the photographer to shoot the photos.

Outside

  • Remove all dirt, oil, or any other distracting stains from the driveway and porch.
  • Mow lawn, trim landscaping and remove weeds/dead plants.
  • Store hoses, lawn equipment, tools or any personal items in the garage or shed.

Kitchen

  • Use the rule of 3. Leave 3 items of decoration on the kitchen countertop.
  • Stow away easily moved appliances in the cabinets (mixers, coffee makers, toasters, etc.)
  • Remove ALL items from the front of the refrigerator (magnets, photos, etc)
  • Store away soap containers, washcloths, sponges, and dish drying racks.

Bedrooms

  • Plese make all beds and fluff pillows
  • Make sure the lamps are plugged in and light bulbs are in working order.
  • Store away remote controls, cell phone chargers, laptops, and other personal items.
  • Remove all personal items from the top of dressers and tables.
  • Store away clothes, shoes, coats, etc.
  • Closets- Either use them as a safe place to store items you do not want photographed, or if they are custom built, be sure to organize them for presentation.

Bathroom

  • Please clean the shower door to remove smudges and water stains.
  • Remove personal items from the shower and tub area (unless hidden by shower curtain)
  • Remove clothes hampers and towels
  • Remove all personal items (toothbrush, non-decorative soap, etc) from the vanity.

Just a rule of thumb, if it looks like it does not belong, it most likely doesn't. All of these suggestions are to ensure that your home shows to its maximum potential and makes for a quicker, cleaner photo shoot.

These are just a few recommendations that can be provided by your awesome photographer. We love ours and the information that they provide.
