It was 1907 when Carlisle opened the season with a 40-0 win over Lebanon Valley. They travelled to the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field in a meet-up with the undefeated Pennsylvania before a crowd of 22,800 fans in Philadelphia.
It was in the second play of the game when something happened that will forever change the way football is played. Pete Hauser launched the football to William Gardner who caught it on a dead run carrying is just short of the goal line. Thus, it is written down in history the first forward pass to be completed in a football game. Carlisle beat Penn 26-6. Two weeks later they used the same forward pass to defeat Harvard 23-15.
BTW you may have heard of another player for Carlisle who was in the game, that person being Jim Thorpe. Only now you know the rest of the story. See ya tomorrow. How does that relate to real estate you may be asking. Well Carlisle decided to do something different so why not you? Get out of your comfort zone and go for it.
