This is Sophie, she is our Rescue from @SavingGracesNC . Located on the most beautiful farm in Wake Forest NC , Saving Graces NC is home to rescue dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs.. etc. They pull from shelters and take surrenders. They provide such great care and vetting to allow these animals a second chance. The volunteer workers and staff work tirelessly and are the most kind hearted.
As for Sophies story , she was located under a bridge with another stray (which my friend adopted) .. It was obvious Sophie had recently given birth to a litter of pups and with the stress of being separated from her litter and being out on the streets when I adopted her she was timid, quiet and depressed. Very depressed and withdrawn. It took a few weeks to convince her she was safe and everything was going to be OK.
That was two years ago this month.
Sophie has gained her confidence and is the most outgoing and loving dog ! Her personality shines through on this photo-- snapped as she was running to the doorbell. She knows that means someone is here to visit her or pizza is for dinner ! Either way she loves that doorbell !
She has been a solid companion to our beloved English Bulldog and can hold her own when hes being goofy and demanding !
Sophie is considered a "low rider" because of her short legs. She is part Basset Hound and part Labrador retriever ---
which in the dog world we call them Bassadors !
If you are thinking of bringing a dog into your home/ family... I highly encourage you to visit your local shelters or non profit rescue leagues !
They are well versed on breeds and their particular needs.
They can match your family with a rescue for a successful adoption.
