Marijuana use is now legal in Beverly Hills, Ca…

Ok let me be more specific Marijuana use is now legal in California. Voters in California along with Nevada and Massachusetts passed Prop 64 and made the recreational use of marijuana legal. These three states join Washington, Colorado, Oregon and Alaska in legalizing recreational use.

This post is not about approval or should I say condoning it or disapproving it. The Voters have spoken it is the Law.

What does this mean in California? It means you can legally use marijuana at home, if you are an adult at least of 21 years of age. Up to one ounce of marijuana buds or eight grams of cannabis concentrates can be possessed at any given time.

In addition, most Californians can now grow up to six plants per home for personal use as lnog as they keep the plants for themselves. Beverly Hills residents can cultivate up to six plants indoors, because there is virtually no back yard available and in addition the City of Beverly Hills has their own regulations prohibiting the growing of marijuana outdoors anywhere in the City.

Now on top, there is a petition going on to have criminal record or jail time reversed for those convicted of a crime for marijuana usage. Keep in mind this is a long and ongoing process, do not expect it to happen soon.

Lastly you can carry, give away or accept up to eight grams of cannabis.

Wow the Police should have calibrated scales with them? Just thinking out loud… I suspect there will be easier ways to stop the blatant violators. In Beverly Hills, you cannot smoke cigarettes and electronic cigarettes in public places. Now this will also apply to Marijuana consumption. Hence the answer is easy there will be violators and that is how the police will stop them.

Just as alcohol, marijuana cannot be used in a vehicle or before driving a vehicle. Now I anticipate violators will be blatantly driving and smoking… that in turn will get them stopped and charged with having an open container of marijuana in the car.

Well these are the easy thing to look for. Now what will the Housing Market’s effects be? We need to reach out to the states that have this legal already. My first reaction is there will be marijuana contamination, allergies as well as disclosure in the sales transaction.

I can just see it: seller disclosure, seller has been growing marijuana for the past 20 years and smoking it for recreational use as well. Buyer needs to do their own investigation if the fumes are harmful to the house as well as to the buyer. Seller will not re mediate smell embedded in the house due to smoking marijuana for the past 20 yearsJ))

Alcohol and cigarettes are far more harmful and at least it is time to decriminalize it, as well as see state governments balance their budgets. It also gets the cartels out of the marijuana business.

This is happening all over the U.S. For those who need it medically; I support it. For recreational use, just like excess alchol or other drug use, I personally do not, but that is a personal choice.

Endre,

I am relieved that the police will still have a job doing control.  We are a smoke free city here, and I am sure that this will include smoking marijuana.  The tax revenue will help CA's coffers, maybe they will lower the sales tax.  LOL A

Hi Endre - If California mirrors Colorado's experience at all, expect fewer probems than might be anticipated - it has been pretty smooth here. One impact you are likely to run across is high demand for commercial space for sales and growing operations, once how those are going to work get settled.

I'm wondering where the people who live in the city will be able to grow their 6 plants!  Funny but, I was out of town the day after the election and just returned home last night.  I spent last night and today catching up on the results and this was one that I didn't find surprising.  I agree with Dick Greenberg - time to start marketing that commercial space!!

I love your adaption of the California State Flag, Endre!  One thing I might add to this conversation however.  If they are planning on selling a home anytime soon, it's probably best to smoke outside, or clean and paint prior to marketing. Walls that smell of Marijuana, are just as bad as those that smell of tobacco. . .At least that's what I've been told!

LOL...so is that the new flag for your state?

The open container law is the same here in CO. Also law enforcement has been trained in a different set of road side maneuvers for those people suspected of smoking pot.

I think once the smoke from all of this settles, that people will see it's not really a big deal. Pot is regulated in a very similar way to alcohol...probably with even tougher regulations.

Hi Endre Barath, Jr., hope yours will go as smooth as Colorado as Dick Greenberg suggests. In FL , they just passed use of medicinal marijuana, hope it stays with that.

And recently, weed became legal for medical purposes in Alabama. That's some great news, but I'm not sure if it's actually needed to be done since the medical benefits of weed and CBD oil don't differ, so I think people can just take CBD instead. I know that weed helps cope with insomnia, but for me, CBD gummies from this page work fine as well. I mean, I don't see anything wrong with weed, but I just think that nothing really changed for most people after that.

While I understand that cannabis can be effective in managing insomnia, personally, I've found that CBG products from this particular source also do the job well for me. I don't hold any negative views about cannabis, but I believe that, the plant has many magical cannabinoids and I am a huge fan of CBG.
