ActiveRain 2016 Photo Contest: Up the Eiffel Tower

By

I took this on an elevator ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  I used a little Samsung point and shoot camera and wound up with about 15 of these shots - some blurred and fuzzy, and a few that were fun to edit and then look at.

I'd just finished Edward Rutheford's book, Paris, the Novel, and a big part of the plot line was about the men who constructed this iconic monument. And when I wasn't snapping pictures, I was eying the way all of the pieces of this huge Erector Set fit together.  On all of my trips to Paris, this was the first time that I ever did the tourist thing and rode to the very top.  I loved it!

This is my entry into Dick Greenberg's 2016 Photo Contest under the "Life: Travel" category.

How marvelous. If I ever get to the Eiffel Tower, I'm going to take that elevator as well!

Good morning again Patricia. I have many times been to the tower but never went to the top.

The construction of the Eiffel Tower has always fascinated me.  I've never seen it up close and personal, but this picture showing every nut and bolt is cool.

Hi Pat

There is something magical about seeing, and touring, the Eiffel Tower. I've only been up once but it was in the evening as lights were coming on - truly a beautiful time to look out over the city. Love your photo!

I've never been there but what a great shot!  It certainly conveys how high you were over the city!

Kat, trust me - you'll want to take the elevator!  It's a really long climb to the top.

Sheila, this was my first trip to the top after a lot of trips there.  It's sort of like after living in New York for so many years, I didn't make it to the top of the Empire State Building until a couple of years ago.

Myrl,  it was cool to see after reading the book about the guys who tightened those bolts!
