Tips for End of Year tipping

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Berkshire Hathway HomeServices Hometown, REALTORS 173302

The question always comes up... should I tip, and if I do, how much?  Many people in our lives provide services for us, all year long,  in and out of our homes year round.   It is always nice around the holidays to thank them.

For guidance, I refer to Emily Post as a reference, or starting point.  There are no real RULES, your household budget , your relationship and holiday spirit can help make the final decision.

Housekeeper- up to one weeks pay- or a small gift

Newspaper delivery person- $10 to $30

Mail carrier- Small gift- most are not allowed to accept cash or gift cards

Handyman- $15 to $40

Trash collector- $10 to $30 each

Yard worker- $20 to $50 each

Hope this helps!!  Happy holidays!

Christina, this is a great reminder to acknowledge and thank people who provide services we almost take for granted, like the mail carier, the trash collector ... I think I will reblog this article.
