The insider secrets of a Beverly Hills, CA Realtor: Endre Barath, Jr.
I get asked from neighbors and acquaintances “… what is your normal day like…”? This question is asked, since many people see the Reality Show Realtors and visualize a glamourous work. They think that life of a Realtor is as glamorous as life of a secret agent. Then they see me and there does not seem to be the same perception. Neither careers are like that, rather that is so far from reality I cannot even describe it.
I do not project an arrogant or pompous approach, instead they see a low key, laid back person who talks about food, wine, books and traveling and has a good sense of humor, rather than being a braggart. If they ask me “how is the market” then based on that, I ask a few questions of my own, in order that they could get a good answer to their question. Usually the answer consists of a very straight forward conversation with facts and statistics until the person is satisfied.
Now that Active Rain had a challenge reference this same question, I had the impetus to address this question in a Blog Post format.
For starters, there are seldom “normal days” that most people are accustomed to. Using an example of ‘Teachers in Los Angeles’, who get up early and goes to work early and are home early afternoon. This is not my routine day.
There are a few Realtors in Beverly Hills, who “go to the office” just like going to the “factory” and go home and leave the “office”.
I on the other hand do not fit this “Style” or “Type” of Beverly Hills Realtor, I eat and sleep real estate.
My routine “office day” with no appointments to show property, no previewing of property, that is an ordinary day. The key to all this is achieved by vigorous time blocking and being in front of the PC.
07:45 am -08:00 am my dog wakes me up and we go into ‘our’ office with a mug of coffee. The classical radio station gives us a calming background noise and the lap top is opened the scanning of the emails begin.
09:00 am -10:15 am all important emails have been identified, responded to and all spam/bulk mail reviewed and deleted.
10:15 -12:00 noon all phone calls handled and returned and in-between any new emails addressed.
12:30 pm - 01:00 pm my assistant and I go for a stroll and return to the office.
1:00 pm - 6:00 pm calls, emails, marketing and calls to potential clients and existing clients. Maintaining Escrows etc.
6:00 pm- 7:30 pm the animals in the household are taken care of (unless interrupted by client calls or important emails that cannot wait).
7:30 pm – 9:00 pm dinner time
9:00pm -12 midnight +/- 01:00 am blogging, emailing international clients preparation for the next day.
The beauty of this boring routine day is, that I can dedicate about 3-4 hours of additional time to respond to clients, future clients, because I am not sitting in Los Angeles Traffic.
