A closeup view of fancy rock work from the past.

Upon visiting this house in Searcy AR today I was once again so amazed to see this rock work from the past.  The house was built in 1935.  Imagine the time it took to make these nice long lines in the mortar defining each rock.  The rock, also, is different.  It does not look like a rock but more like a sponge.  Is it a different kind?

My "once again" refers to the house.  It was one of the first houses that I ever listed.  I was new in real estate and the house stayed sold from around early 1980s until it sold in 2005 and then again in 2008.  The house is on West Arch Street and it is for sale again.  It will still grab your attention as you drive by and it still has lovely features.  I suppose you'd like to see the front of it?  Sure!  Here it is.....the court house view of the house.

Barbara, I love that stonework! I am always so happy when you post one of your pictures from Searcy, AR. I feel as if I was there, years ago, LOL.

I really admire that rockwork, Barbara!  And, it looks like they have maintained the joints really well!

Andrea, thanks so much for such a nice comment.

Myrl, it still looks good all over the outside.  It is a charming bungalow.

Pauline, when did you live there?  It was beautiful when I sold it in the 80's.

I love this house. We lived here several years. I actually looked at it a few years ago to purchase but things happened and couldn't. Few more years and I'll look again.

I believe Palmer and Joline Webb lived there in the late 1940s or early 50s. It is a very neat little house. I can still remember the living room and kitchen layout. They were my aunt & uncle and I lived on West Vine near them. I used to walk over there a lot. Good memories.

I remember the Guilbeau girls.  I had several in my class during my days of teaching.  They were all beautiful and so sweet.  I did not know they once lived in this house!

Draxie, I think I had heard that they lived there.  I remember the kitchen had a little cubby hole dining spot, sorta like a restaurant.  It is still there.  Thanks for the memories.

Isn't the house on West Arch? It's possible my uncle lived there in the 40s, but there is another house, similar....with the rock...that is also on Arch....next block I think.

It is on West Arch, Anita.  And it backs up to one on W Race which I need to get the picture of.
