Telluride in Late September

Rich and I have lived in Colorado since 1991. We've visited a few places in this wonderous state, but we'd never been to Telluride. I'm not sure we would have ever gone, but we won a silent auction earlier in the year and the grand prize was a 2 night stay at a lodge in the neighboring town of Mountain Village.

We timed our trip just right. We were able to appreciate the change in the colors as Summer gave way to Fall. This photo was taken entering Telluride. I never knew that this small mountain town was located in a box canyon, just one way in or out AND the speed limit is 15 mph everywhere in town!

We had a wonderful time relaxing, eating good food, visiting the shops and even taking in a Dallas Cowboys football game on Sunday night.

This is an Real Life travel/places entry in Dick Greenberg's The ActiveRain 2016 Photography Contest. I picked this photo because of the beauty of the landscape. Something I don't see every day!

Hello Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

We had a lovely room with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. We even had a small balcony, but it was too chilly to spend time out there!

I'm with Robert Vegas Bob Swetz, what a wonderful respite! I love silent auction wins like this. Oh, how I love the layers. Telluride is actually one of those destinations that I long to go to when someone mentions it!

It was wonderful just to have time to be a couple! We do wish we had spent another day. It's a 6+ hour drive from our house and we made several stops along the way. Too far to drive to just spend one full day.

Good morning Donna.  I've been through Colorado several times on my way to pick up prisoners to transport them back to Arkansas.  Don't remember if I've ever been by there...  Hmm, now I'm going to take  look  at the routes I was on and see if I drove by.

Seems you've had a very exciting life that I don't know anything about! You transported prisoners??

It was nice to have some private time somewhere away from home. We need to do that more often.
