I AM THANKFUL FOR THE RISING SUN
As part of Debbie Reynolds' Thanksgiving ten-day challenge, I’d like to pay simple homage to our very own star, the Sun. It gives so much.
We are grateful for the sun rising every morning, it is one of the very few a priori events in our lives, but what if it did not? The sun gives us light, it gives us life in the form of plants growing and so on, it gives us hope, it cheers us up. There are so many other attributes.
In yoga, the routine usually starts with sun salutations and most likely not by accident. The sun “asks” for nothing back. To some extent, it’s up to us to keep the “channels of communication open” by respecting what we as a human race are doing to the environment and contributing to weather changes. Sometimes mother nature interferes with volcanic eruptions, for example, that might block the rays of the sun with detrimental consequences.
On a much more basic level, I am simply grateful for the sun because it puts a smile on my face and helps me to enjoy the great outdoors, whatever it is I might be doing - work, chores, tennis, beach… as well as my fellow human beings.
I love the sun and I am thankful for it!
