ViewHomes™ Of Clark County - Multi-Gen Houses Market Report

By
Industry Observer with Nature As Neighbors

We know that multigenerational living is becoming more popular for many reasons. Besides the economics of sharing expenses, there are the real social and emotional benifits of deepened relationships and enriched lives. Adult children have the peace of mind of taking care of their aging parents,  Grandchildren have the bonus of quality time with their grandparents on a regular basis. However, we know from experience, privacy and the need for "elbow room for the soul"™ are critical factors in this lifestyle.

Finding the perfect multi-gen home for your purposes can be a challenge.  Certainly, if the house is listed with separate living quarters or a separate residence, that's a given, but they are not common. However, there might be other features that will make the situation work, sometimes with some minor remodeling. A second kitchen in the daylight basement, or an office over the garage that already has plumbing.  Local zoning codes will also determine what can or cannot be done. This is where an agent who is experienced with multi-gen houses or, better yet, lives the lifestyle, can help you find the right home.

It also helps to know what the market looks like when you start shopping for a multi-gen home. Here is a snapshot of ViewHomes™ of Clark County with multi-gen features priced starting at $450,000:

We get many families in our area looking for homes in which grandparents can live with them. Getting more popular, I think for many of the reasons you mention. There is a great video on Multi generational living from the Netherlands, where young millenials are moving into homes for seniors. They get free rent, but take part within the community. Both sides are benefitting and the young people love it as do the seniors.

I have one pocket listing that is better tailored for a multi-generational home.  This is an area we should continue to see grow and you are well suited for such growth.

Debb, I don't see the demand for multi-gen homes going away anytime soon and if anything I see it increasing. You are such  a pro in this market niche and you can't get more hands on than living the lifestyle yourself. Buyers would be in the best hands under your guidance when seeking a multi-gen home in Clark County.
