But First, Let Me Take a Selfie

There is a lot of really, really bad video on ActiveRain, and I've written a couple of posts about some wonderful coaching I had about how to speak in front of a microphone.  The listing video in this post will show you what a good one looks, and even more important, sounds like.

Listen to Jacki's voice as she speaks.  It's more modulated than most of us are when we have normal conversations.  And, unlike most of us on a video blog, she doesn't sound like a Conehead!

She did a great job on a terrific house.

As a part of the ActiveRain Photography Contest, the following photo is my submission for Best Selfie in the Real Life category.

This photo was a selfie I took at one of my luxury listings when we filmed a commercial.  The commercial was geared towards showing the lifestyle story of the home.  This particular home for sale was built for a family with teenagers, so the commercial was a one-shot follow video with 4 teenagers as the actors.  I hired my daughter and 3 of her friends.

When the commercial was finished, I took this selfie with the 4 teenagers.  In the background is the videographer who shot the commercial.

Below is the final version of the commercial.

Hi Pat

I can always use tiups on doing a better video, as I sure many others can. I have gotten pretty comfortable in front of the camera after all this time but still could do a much better job.

Thank you so much for the kudos and the reblog! I've been a professional speaker for a long time - I will share that the single most important training you can do is to really study great speakers and listen to their inflections, pace, and tonality.  Also, watch their gestures and body language. Find a speaker who truly resonates with you.  These are skills you can use in video, in front of audiences, and especially in your day to day dealings with clients.  AND don't be afraid to be imperfect.  It keeps it real :)

Loved this video when I saw it on her listing a while back.  So good to see life in a real estate listing rather than the same old sterile empty house.
