I am thankful for the concept of the Electoral College, because it gives some power to the smaller states. But, I do wonder why twice in recent years, the Electoral College will empanel a president who did not win the popular vote. Sure, I understand the process; and I don't really disagree with it.
Along the same lines, I believe in Super Delegates, because I do believe that party loyalists--not only the population at large--should have some say in who represents the party. During this election cycle, we had two outsiders who became contenders: Donal Trump and Bernie Sanders. Sure, Bernie is making Democrat noises now, but he has served nearly all of his years in the Senate as a proud Independent.
For so many reasons, this election has entered the realm of bizarro...but our union is strong, and we will survive. Catch your breath quickly, because campaigning for mid-term elections will start in a few short months.
