The Holidays Are Coming -

How's Your Marketing Coming?

The holidays are coming. They are a special time for everyone. Families and friends getting together. Peace, love and joy being spread. Good wishes to everyone!

So what are you doing to make your holiday marketing special? Have you put together a plan? How's your Marketing Coming?

Here are 5 Tips to Help You Prepare Your Holiday Marketing Plan:

The holidays are personal, so your marketing efforts should be too. Sending a magnet with your advertising on it isn't very personal. In fact, all your competitors are doing that same thing! So think about it and be creative.

Get Personal

Personalize your ad campaign by allowing customers to get involved. OfficeMax had a huge following when they added the "Elf Yourself" app to their website. Do something innovative to draw the customers in. The more innovative and fun the experience is, the more likely they are to share it on social media and beyond. Hire a designer from Fiverr or

Office meeting to brainstorm ideas for holiday marketing and gifts.Get Your Staff Involved

The first step is to get everyone together to brainstorm ideas that are creative and will reach out to people. Studies show there is an overlap between employees and company. Reaching out to that overlap can boost your reach and touches.

Reach Out With Feeling

The holidays can be stressful, joyful, sad or any number of feelings. It's really awesome to create something that makes people involved in your cause - to give back to community, families, or charities that make a difference. If your company has its own charity, offer to match donations or to host a drive of some kind. Make it brilliant because at this time of the year, you have to compete with other functions. Make Today a Better Day!

Do more than magnets this holiday season! Make Your Promotion Easy to Share

The easier it is to share, the more likely it will be. Make content shareable by adding social icons to emails, allowing recipients to share with a single click and creating engaging tweets that are begging to be shared.

Create Online Deals

How about mix something with an offer and you have an opportunity nobody will ignore! Work with a partner, a lender, a service provider or someone you a good business relationship with. Have a coat drive for the local mission and let people know that they can drop off coats at X, Y and Z locations and they will receive a gift card for a free coffee at the LOCAL coffee shop or some other creative discount that is easy to share. Partnering with someone else will help reduce your costs.

The holidays are the perfect time to build an emotional bond with your customers. The positive feelings of family, giving and gratitude are already at the forefront of the season and your marketing campaign can be part of the season's sentiments. With a sharable campaign, hot online deals and a consistent multi-channel experience, you’ll be positioned for maximum holiday-season success.

Top of the morning Kathy.  Excellent ideas all.  Personally I try back away from the marketing push during the Holidays.  I am so tired of business's pushing from every side to get me to buy something I prefer enjoy the warmth of the season.  My practice...not something for everyone.  Mark

Good morning Kathy. Moved away from Christmas marketing years ago and focused on Thanksgiving. As more people followed, I moved away again. Thanks for the ideas! Enjoy your day!

Hi Kathy Goldman - My Thanksgiving note cards are already out and getting feedback. I have a couple of ideas for year long subscriptions for my actual buyers and sellers.

Kathy lots of great ideas to jump start marketing over the holiday.  Our marketing is planned months in advance and all is set to go out as scheduled. Added on a new magazine this year and we're excited about that - I am hoping our clients like it much more than the precious one. I think they will.

Seems this time of the year just whizzes by, Kathy Goldman ... SO many things to get accomplished, both in work and personal life.  Every year for the past 8 years, my wife and I have compiled a CD collection of Holiday music for clients, friends, and family.  We have a lot of fun doing it ... and the music really helps relieve OUR stress too!  We've found that we get a great response from doing this ... so fun and successful.  Can't beat that ...

GREAT reminder to not overlook our marketing efforts at this busy time!
