By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with KD Realty - 408.972.1822 CA DRE#01366594

Debbie Reynolds (the Real Debbie Reynoldsis hosting a 10 Day Thanksgiving Post Challenge.

I started the challenge on Day 1 being thankful for my Life

Day 2 being thankful for my Faith.

Day 3 being thankful for my Son

Day 4 being thankful for my Health.

Day 5 being thankful for my Friends

I Am Thankful for my Home

I choose to live a simple and quiet life at home.  The older I get the more I appreciate serenity.  My home is my safe haven - my sanctuary.

There is nothing simple or quiet about being a real estate broker. At the beginning and end of each day I have my home to enjoy peace, quiet and tranquility which I treasure.

I enjoy flying solo.  My pet cockatiel Mikey keeps me entertained even when I'd rather not be. My mourning routine inlcudes giving Mikey love and attention however there are some mornings he wants no part of that!

I feel so blessed and thankful to have my very special place to call home

When you have good health and you're blessed with a sanctuary you call home, you have more than 85% of the population world-wide. May you continue to be blessed.

Patricia Feager - you have contextualized this so beautifully.  So many people are without and struggle daily to make end meet. I am seeing more and more homeless all around me.  I am blessed.

Hi Kathleen

You echo all my sentiments so well, except for Mickey - we have our cats instead. The peace, quiet and traquility of home, as you have spoken about, is something to be especially grateful for.

Being thankful for my home is on my list, yet to be written.

Jeff

Kathleen: I bet most of us look at our home as a sanctuary. Unfortunately, it's hard to do because in this day and age we are "connected" by cell phone, computer, etc. that it is hard to shut them down. Just last night when I had dinner and had left my phone in another part of the house, a client was frantically calling and texting for some advice. We did get it resolved. What I'm saying is, that I just can't NOT get back to my clients when they need me like that. It would not have gone over well if I had waited until 8 am or so this morning.

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® - we have a choice. Clients need to know we are human ... not computers and/or robots. We cannot realistically be available for them 24x7.  Shutting down is a decision we make. We have a right and we owe it to our souls and sanity to do so.

I'm going out on a limb here and speculating that the advice the client frantically needed was not life threatening ... and could have waited until .... nobody died ... right?

This business can eat us alive if we allow it. I'm guilty of being there for clients and doing for clients in ways that are personally and financially detrimental to me.

I'm working on being better about how much of my soul I give while in service to my clients.  My own physicians don't give that much. Is it really necessary or are we diluting ourselves into believing otherwise?
