As the snowbird season starts back up, I’m seeing so many of those familiar faces returning to enjoy our area. I’m also seeing many new faces as well as my team continues to help out-of-towners and transplants to purchase vacation homes in Southwest Florida. Probably my favorite thing about being in real estate is getting to connect to all these people and show them everything our area has to offer. Still, I know that you’ve probably seen a lot of articles on the common attractions or activities in SWFL. With that in mind, I thought right now would be perfect to share some less common ones.

Night Fishing in Southwest Florida

You’ve probably heard how enjoyable our sport fishing is in SWFL. Yet, fewer people know really how remarkable it can be at night too. It’s not uncommon to find fishers at all times of day, from the Skyway Fishing Pier to the backwater marshes. Fishing at night has its own benefits, one of which is how incredibly relaxing and tranquil it can be.

Hunt for Treasure with the Grand Kids

You know how excited kids get about treasure hunting? Well, when you own a home in Southwest Florida, you can take them! Just rent some metal detectors and hit the beaches. It’s a fun time, and you can even bring something special to plant for them to find.

Taking Sailing Classes in SWFL

You’ll hear plenty of people talking about boating in Southwest Florida. If you’re a snowbird … now’s the perfect time to take some sailing classes. The weather’s lovely, and you’ll find that, even if you’re a little older, sailing isn’t as much work as you’d imagine on our calm waters.

Catch a Beach Walk with a Marine Biologist

A walk on the beach couldn’t be better in our area. When you own a home in Southwest Florida, you want to take every chance you can get to appreciate it. One secret way to enhance your walks is to take one with a Bailey Matthews Museum biologist on Sanibel. These tours happen regularly and are especially eye opening to the unexceptional beauty we have here.
