November is my month of blessings. Henry moved to Walhalla in October and by November we realized it was a good move...11 years and counting.
During his move he kept calling his family; he wanted his mom's praline pie to make for us for our first Thanksgiving. No luck, no one remembered this pie like he did. He called his sister, and both brothers. No one knew the pie.
We were packing a trash bag to take to the recycle center and there on the top was the wonderful pie recipe, I think Alice's angel put it there. Today as a way of Thanksgiving, I am sharing this pie recipe with you. Enjoy, we always do.
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 lightly baked 9 inch pie shell
1 package instant vanilla pudding (5 1/2 ounce)
2 1/2 cups milk
1 envelope dream whip
Combine butter brown sugar and nuts in a sauce pan. Heat until butter and sugar are melted. Spread in bottom of pie shell. Bake at 450 degrees for 5 minutes or till bubbly. Cool. Prepare pie filling mix with 2 1/2 cups milk as directed on package for pie. Measure 1 cup of filling, set aside. Pour remaining filling into pie shell. Prepare whipped topping mix as directed on package. Blend 1 1/3 cups into the measured pie filling, spoon into pie shell. Chill about 3 hours. Garnish with remaining whipped topping and nuts if desired.
