Gratitude - The Nature that Surrounds Us
The REAL Debbie Reynolds is hosting a 10-day Thanksgiving Post Challenge and for Day-6 of gratitude, I am thankful for the nature that surrounds us.
Living in the city, I'm amazed at the beauty that fills Charlotte - it's everywhere you look! From the century old massive hardwoods to the beautiful blooms - everywhere - Charlotte is known as the 'Green City' for a reason! Just take a drive down winding, Queens Road, where you're enveloped by the towering Pin Oaks and the lush, green lawns.
Of course, there are plenty of animal nature surrounding us as well! Living in the heart of SouthPark, I am always suprised at the deer families who reside in the tree-save area at the back of our lot.
We also have red foxes (which we're not too thrilled about!) and a hawk famiy that lives among the towering Sugar Maples in our backyard. *We had a narrowly spaced picket fence installed to prevent our cat from escaping our backyard when we moved in. We have to go outside with her now and stay by her side to be sure one of the hawks don't swoop down and take her away!
*This was taken this morning - yes, still blooming beautifully in November!
*Lovely Queens Road Landscape; clients also added the blooming shrubery for a pop of color in the front.
*Red Maples are popular all across the Charlotte area. We planted this one two years ago when we built and love the beautiful show of red during the fall months (photo taken this morning). You can also see my fur baby, Duke, who escorts me out when I head to the mailbox to retrieve the paper every single morning! He knows he can't go beyond the point he is without his leash though.
* These beauties are often spotted in our backyard - much to Barney's delight! He BOLTS out the door to get a closer glimpse of them when he smells them coming!
*One of SouthPark's resident hawks! This was far more spectacular in person as he was just about 6 to 10 feet away fron me! The shot is not very clear as I struggled to quietly pull my phone out without scaring him away. I managed to get one shot before he flew the coop!
I am so very grateful for living in the city among such breathtaking nature!
