You don't hear a lot of people getting excited when a winter storm is heading their way, but in Colorado we do a little happy dance. When your economy and winter sports activity rely upon a good snow pack, you get happy when you hear there's snow coming. Also our summer irrigation water is heavily dependent upon how much snow we get during the winter months.
Grand Mesa has over 300 lakes and reservoirs. Most of these are used to collect water to be used as a domestic water source and for irrigation water. If these lakes don't fill up, then we don't get the water we want and need for the orchards during the spring and summer.
The Grand Mesa is also a destination for those that like to snowmobile, cross country and downhill ski. Last year we had the best snow in the state. People traveled from all over just to play in the snow on Grand Mesa.
I haven't heard how much we are going to get in Cedaredge. It doesn't matter as long as the snow gods dump a lot of it. I checked the radar tonight and that storm is heading from the south right at us. Yippee!
Let it snow!!!
And in response to all of you readers in other parts of the country...I will do my best to keep the snow here.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 26 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
