Gratitude in Los Angeles: RAIN!!
I was planning on writing another Gratitude post thanks to our friend Debbie Reynolds challenge. The Weather changed my topic.
I was showing one of my vacant lots on Benedict Canyon to a potential developer early afternoon, it was a bit cloudy and we had a great chat. I got in my car where my assistant was restingJ). Less than 20 minutes later the skies opened.
I stopped at World Market for some Thanksgiving Decorations and a few odds and ends, as I was standing the cashier started cheering: “…Look it is pouring down…” only in Los Angeles do people get excited when it rains.
I said: “…Oh no I have my windows open and my dog is getting wet…” the Bostonian in me jumped… and ran to the car… Shortly after it the Transplant in me started to be Grateful. We have not had a great deal of rain this year… how wonderful. Then the home owner/part time Gardner was cheering…I do not have to water TomorrowJ))
Diane called me from Petco wondering: did you finish your showing...? I am standing at Petco by the door waiting for the downpour to stop to get in my car…
All day it has been dark, gloomy and a steady rain pour…we are all excited. It brought back memories when the same type of weather in Boston, MA would be depressing. This is a great indication of the same events we look at and have a different perspectives.
It is the same dark, gloomy, rainy day, people on the East Coast are complaining that it is ruining their hair, their clothes are getting wet and the list goes on and on.
Here in Los Angeles people are excited that it is dark and gloomy and it is raining. Same condition different perspective.
Now with that said I am grateful for the long-awaited RAIN we received and are still receiving today in Los Angeles.
