Quick test. What will you do to prepare for marketing your real estate business in 2017? Are you getting ready for a boom or bust? Is the market going to be too crazy to predict and plan? Not at all. It's what you want for your business regardless of the volatile market environment that matters.

real estate boom or bust in marketing next yearReal estate marketing is the key to success for the individual agent, the brokerage or agency selling in any local community or city. Your product is you, your team, your services, your unique offer to a market where the homes are simply a commodity. Your business makes money when customers buy you, not when they buy a house which they can do all by themselves, at least in theory. Recent studies indicate the overwhelming majority of consumers simply work with the first real estate agent they contact.

What Matters to You, Means Everything to Me!

Hi Dave Keys   Nice post.  I like your use of an embedded video, although you maybe should have used it to present your own solution to the issue of marketing in a slow, competitive environment.  That being said, video is the new medium for reaching consumers.  I listened to the entire vid and it occured to me that I should be using video casts as a kind of newsletter to consumers. After listening but before writing this response I went to Amazon and purchased a podcast quality boom mike that I can attach to my desktop.  I want to start doing just what you did here, posting with video messages.  God, what a great idea.  I thank you for an ah-ha moment.

Hey Randy Hilman, Associate Broker, GRI, CBR  Video expands your reach in several ways and it's getting easier to do all the time. Agents who want to literally imprint their face in the minds of their audience. That lends to the psychology of most customers working with the first agent they contact, since video creates that feeling of face to face meeting if it isn't overly commercialized or professionalized.

Good stuff Dave.  The Bloomberg article speaks of the foreign investment factor. Interestingly in my neck of the woods, government has stepped in to curtail the overwhelming foreign investment buyers with an extra tax on non-canadian buyers here in the city of Vancouver. This has in turn bumped up the markets in surrounding areas like Vancouver Island.

I agree full heartedly that online marketing will continue to grow, and that the chief focus of the realtor is marketing themselves. Essentially getting their brand and face out there in front of the people looking to buy or sell.
Of course finding the correct and trustworthy means of getting those results is key. Like you I believe SEO is perhaps the largest cornerstone part of a good digital marketing foundation. The organic visibility is so important. (I just wrote a blog on a project we started to address this very issue)

All the best Dave, have a great week !! :)

Thanks Derek Rogers, Many Realtors in the US would love to compete the digital marketing online environment enjoyed by Canadian real estate agents; one where there is little to no influence by the big 4 aggregators, Zillow, Trulia, Realtor and Homes. That's an opportunity for the taking!
Derek is in some of the same SEO mastermind groups as myself and his knowledge and capability in SEO is high caliper. If for any reason you find I'm not a good fit (not that I'm strongly opinionated or have a style that is going to rub people either the right or wrong way but never dull!) then check him out here on AR or at his SEO website, http://www.arneeon.com/. His post mentioned above can get you started too, http://activerain.com/blogsview/4982963/the-visibility-project-for-realtors---it-begins

Thanx, Dave Keys I really appreciate the plug.

We do have a couple big aggregator sites here, but definately not as intense as that side of the line. :)  Thankfully with a little extra work all things are possible!!

Blessings
