Many agents hire Administrative Assistants and find they don’t work out for one reason or another. I feel many hire an agent who wants you to mentor them and as soon as they feel they can go it alone they leave! Don’t get me wrong I believe in mentoring. I want to give back because I was lucky to experience some phenomenal mentoring from agents when I first started. I just don’t want them on my payroll.
As independent contractors we own our own business and decide how we want to run it. I love that! I don’t want to be a Broker and manage agents. I don’t want to be a team captain and manage agents. I want to do what I do best...list and sell homes. What I need is someone to handle my paper work, answer my phone, schedule appointments, be open to new kinds of technology, help research new ideas and information, create my fliers and stat reports (with the information I produce) and so much more.
I hit the jackpot when I hired a head hunter so to speak to interview and find me the right Admin back in 2008 (my other admin retired). She found me someone who had experience working for another agent in another firm but she herself is not an agent. Yup that is right she has no interest in listing or selling on her own. She is systems oriented and not afraid of technology. If she doesn’t know how to do something she knows how or where to go to figure it out! Carol Cantelmo has been with me 8 years and is my right arm.
I’m thankful every day she is here for me. I could never handle the volume I do if she was not in my corner. Cheers Carol..You are a blessing!
