The Thanksgiving Day Trot... a true tradition in the Charlotte, NC area. It doesn't matter where you live in the Charlotte area--there's probably a Turkey Trot near you that you can participate in easily. (And what a great way to run off those Thanksgiving meal calories in advance!) But keep in mind you need to register in advance for some of these trots, so don't wait until Thanksgiving Day.
Charlotte/SouthPark Turkey Trot: now in its 28th year, attracting more than 10,000 runners, making it one of the largest such events in the State of North Carolina, and ranking it sixth in the nation of the 300+ Turkey Trots around the country! The trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day.
The Charlotte/South Park Turkey Trot offers a 1 Mile Fun Run, a 5K run, an 8K run, and a 26.2 Yard Tot Trot, as well as awards for costumes.

Lake Norman Turkey Trot: the 10th annual Turkey Trot featuring a 5K race, a 10K race, and a Distance Dare race.
Registration/Packet Pick-Up is on: Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 12:00 to 7:00pm at Gold's Gym, located at 20420 West Catawba Ave., Cornelius, NC. You can also register at the event.
The trot is on Thursday, November 24, 2015 (Rain or shine)--start time is 7:00am and end time is noon.

University City Turkey Trot: 2016 is the third annual Turkey Trot in north Charlotte's University Area at the Fresh Market at 3024 Prosperity Church Road in Charlotte. The charity benefitting from this Turkey Trot is the Sickle Cell Partners of The Carolinas. Food, drinks, and music will be available after the race. Please note there are no registrations on the day of the race. Race will begin at 8:00am and the Kid's Run at 9:00am on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th.

The 3rd Annual Turkey Trot At Millbridge in Waxhaw/Union County is a 4 mile walk/race beginning at 8:00am through the Millbridge community benefitting the Levine Childrent's Hospital.

The Beds For Kids Turkey Dash/Charlotte: begins at 8:30am on Thanksgiving Day at the parking lot of Robinson Farms on Williams Pond Road in Ballantyne. The Turkey Dash will feature a 1 mile (beginning at 8:30am) and a 4 mile run (beginning at 9:00am). The Beds for Kids charity raises money to provide beds for thousands of Charlotte children in need.
